What suspension repairs cover
- Suspension diagnosis
- Tracking down knocks, rattles, bouncing, sagging or a vague feel by inspecting the suspension and the steering components it connects to.
- Suspension repairs
- Repairing or replacing worn components the inspection identifies, with the findings explained before work starts.
- Steering and suspension together
- Tie rod ends, ball joints and bushes affect both how the vehicle steers and how it rides. The workshop's steering background means both are considered together.
Suspension symptoms worth checking
Some of these overlap with steering faults, which is why both systems are inspected.
- Knocking or clunking over bumps
- Excessive bouncing or body roll
- The vehicle wandering or pulling
- Uneven or unusual tyre wear
- One corner sitting lower than the others
What the workshop can assess
A suspension inspection looks at the parts that hold the wheels in place and control movement.
- Shock absorbers and struts
- Springs and mounts
- Control arms, bushes and ball joints
- Tie rod ends and steering linkage
- Signs of wear that point to alignment issues
Suspension repairs: common questions
Something else? Contact the workshop
Is a knock over bumps the suspension or the steering?
It can be either, or both. Ball joints, tie rod ends, bushes and the steering rack can all knock. The workshop inspects both systems to find the source.
Can worn suspension affect my tyres?
Yes. Worn components can change how the tyres meet the road and cause uneven wear. Mention any tyre wear you have noticed in your request.
